All you need to know about VApril 2025

Quit smoking easily with VApril

It’s April. There’s pollen in the air, sun in the sky (sometimes), and for once, a national campaign that doesn’t make us roll our eyes. VApril is back, and it’s doing what it does best, helping people finally kick the smoking habit.

Run by the UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA), VApril is all about swapping your lighter for a vape and getting some proper guidance while you’re at it. And no, it’s not one of those over-the-top, plastic-smile campaigns with a free pen and zero real advice. It’s useful. Practical. And at Tidal Vape, we’re here to make it even easier.

So, what exactly is VApril?

VApril, short for Vaping April has been running since 2018. The whole idea is to support smokers who want to quit but don’t fancy the cold turkey route. It’s built on research, not hype, and gives people real options that suit their pace and preferences.

The 2024-25 version is focused on reusable and refillable vape kits. That’s partly because the UK government’s set to ban prefilled pod kits in April 2025 but also because these types of devices are simply more sustainable and customisable for long-term use.

Why do we need a whole month for this?

Because smoking is still a problem. In 2025, nearly 6 million adults in the UK still smoke. Many want to quit. Some have tried. But we all know it’s not that simple.

That’s where VApril steps in. It’s not about scaring you with statistics. It’s about giving you better choices. Whether you’re a rollie loyalist or a social smoker who just “has a couple on weekends,” VApril’s resources are here to nudge you toward a better routine at your own pace.

And the timing’s not random either. April’s a great reset month. It’s post-Easter, pre-summer. Your lungs are begging for a break. Your wallet is, too.

What makes VApril 2025 different?

This year’s campaign is bang on the mark. It recognises that vaping is changing, especially with prefilled pod kits on the way out. So the spotlight is now on reusable, refillable vape kits, ones you can tailor to your taste, nicotine needs, and budget.

Here’s what VApril is offering:

  • The “Start Vaping, Stop Smoking” Plan A simple, no-fluff guide to help you switch. It includes advice on nicotine strength, device types, and choosing flavours you’ll actually enjoy.
  • Expert guidance Think pharmacists, vape shop staff (like ours), and health professionals who understand the real-world struggles of quitting smoking.
  • Product awareness How to avoid dodgy, non-compliant products that aren’t legal in the UK.

There’s also a healthy dose of community this year. Vapers across the UK are sharing their own stories using #VapingWorks and honestly, the real-life tips are far more useful than anything on a corporate poster.

What does the law say?

Glad you asked. Not all vapes are created equal, and the UK has some very specific rules to protect users from harmful or fake products. Here’s what to look for:

  • Your vape tank must not exceed 2ml in capacity.
  • The nicotine strength must not be higher than 20mg/ml.
  • The product should be TPD-compliant (Tobacco Products Directive).
  • It must come with an ECID number and full ingredient list.
  • Labels should be in English (obviously), and the packaging must be childproof and tamper-evident.

At Tidal Vape, every product on our shelves meets these standards. We don’t stock shady brands, we don’t cut corners, and we’re always happy to answer questions no matter how basic they seem.

Why vaping works (and why it’s not perfect)

Vaping isn’t some miracle solution. You still need to want to quit. But if you’re fed up with waking up with a scratchy throat or smelling like a bonfire every day, it gives you a proper alternative.

Here’s why it works for many:

  • You’re still getting the nicotine – but in a cleaner, controlled way.
  • You’ve got flavour options – which weirdly helps more than you’d think.
  • You’re in control – you can taper down nicotine over time.

And yes, the long-term effects of vaping are still being studied. But Public Health England and the NHS both say it’s significantly less harmful than smoking. That’s not just an opinion but it’s based on real, growing evidence.

Tips if you're switching this VApril

If you’re ready to use VApril as your official quitting month, here’s a simple plan that won’t make you want to give up halfway:

1. Choose your device wisely
Don’t just grab the cheapest thing you see. If you’re a pack-a-day smoker, you’ll need something with a decent battery and a tight MTL (mouth-to-lung) draw. Pod kits like the OXVA XLIM Pro 2 or Voopoo Vinci Spark 220 Mod are great starting points.

2. Pick the right nicotine strength
Too low, and you’ll still crave cigarettes. Too high, and it might feel harsh. If you’re not sure, start with 10mg nic salt and adjust from there.

3. Don’t overthink the flavour
Go with something familiar at first tobacco, menthol, or a fruity blend. You can experiment later once you’ve found your footing.

4. Give it a week
The first few days might be weird. But most people who stick with vaping for 7 days never go back to smoking.

5. Talk to someone
Come into a Tidal Vape shop. Message us online. Read a Reddit thread. Just don’t try to do this in silence. Support helps.

Real stories, real results

We’ve seen all kinds of stories walk into our shops. Builders who switched to vaping on lunch breaks. Nurses who finally quit after years of stress-smoking. University students who went from two packs a week to zero in a month.

And we’ve seen how powerful VApril can be—because it’s not preachy. It’s about people helping people. That’s it.

If you’re one of those folks who tried vaping once in 2018 and gave up because the device leaked or the flavour was rubbish, maybe it’s time for a second shot. Vaping’s come a long way. And so have you.

VApril 2024 isn’t here to sell you a dream. It’s here to help you break a bad habit with tools that actually work. You don’t need a pep talk. You need a plan. And maybe a friendly nudge in the right direction.

At Tidal Vape, we’re proud to be a part of this movement—not just this month, but all year round. Pop in, ask questions, or browse online. Whether it’s your first vape or your third attempt to quit, we’ve got time for you.

No pressure. Just better choices.
