How To Choose The Right E-Liquid
Buying an e-liquid is the most important part of your vaping experience. But with so many different e-liquid options available in the market it can be rather overwhelming. At Tidal Vape, we want to simplify the entire process and through this article we are going to make it easier for you. We will look into all the crucial factors one by one that will help you determine the e-liquid that will suit your needs.
1. E-Liquid Flavour
Choosing the right e-liquid flavour is not as easy as it may appear to be. A major reason behind it is that your taste in actual foods or drinks may not reflect in your preferred e-liquid flavours. So, the best way to go about it is to try different brands and flavours until you figure out what you like. At Tidal Vape, we have categorised all our e-liquids based on flavours such as sweets, fruits, desserts, drinks, spices, tobacco, and menthol, which will simplify things for you.
2. Nicotine
One of the major factors while choosing an e-liquid is the nicotine type and nicotine strength. But should you be vaping nicotine? Well, if you are using vaping to quit smoking, the answer is a yes, but if you are using vaping for recreation, you should avoid it as it is a highly addictive substance. Let us now look into the different types and strengths of nicotine:
-
Nicotine Type
There are two types of nicotine that are used in e-liquids, which are freebase nicotine, and nicotine salts. The e-liquids that are readily available in the market are shortfills, which do not have any nicotine but come with empty space to add a nicotine shot.
Now, these nicotine shots could either be freebase nicotine or nicotine salts. The main difference between them lies in their chemical structure that makes freebase nicotine work better in lower strengths (<12mg) and nicotine salts in higher strengths (>12mg).

Nicotine Strength
Now that you know the types of nicotine let us look into different strengths. Choosing the right nicotine strength is like choosing the right flavour and requires trial and error until you find the one that satisfies you. However, below is a guide that you may refer.
Smoking Pattern Nicotine Strength 1 - 5 Cigarettes a day 3mg 5 - 10 Cigarettes a day 6mg 10 - 15 Cigarettes a day 9mg 15 - 20 Cigarettes a day 12mg 20+ Cigarettes a day 18mg or more
3. PG/VG Ratio
PG (Propylene Glycol) and VG (Vegetable Glycerine) are two major components of an e-liquid, and their ratio affects how the e-liquid will work on different devices. For instance, a high PG will lead to a strong throat hit, whereas a high VG means strong flavour and big clouds. Liquids with a 50/50 ratio work best with low power devices, deliver high nicotine, and are meant for Mouth to Lung (MTL) vaping. On the other hand, high VG liquids need high power devices, are meant for cloud chasers, and are best for Direct to Lung (DTL) style of vaping.
In addition to the above, always look out for the ingredients of your e-liquid and check if the company adheres to the UK standards and makes their e-liquids in a clean environment with quality ingredients. If in doubt, reach out to the company. Any genuine company will address all your concerns properly.
