The Best PG/VG Mix for Vaping

PG & VG – So What Exactly Are They and What Does It Mean?

Put simply, these are abbreviations for ‘propylene glycol’ and ‘vegetable glycerin’ – odourless liquid bases that are mixed with nicotine and flavour additives to create the e-juice for your vaporizer.

 PG and VG bases also have different consistencies and taste too, and they both give a different hit at the back of the throat. Hence why it’s important to know the correct mix ratio when trying a new flavour, or if you’re new to the vaping club.

E-liquids are a mixture of nicotine, flavouring and a PG and VG base. Depending on how much nicotine you put into your e-liquid, this will determine the strength of the vape.

So let’s say your e-liquid is 10% nicotine, another 10% will be made up of flavouring with around 80% of the remaining mixture made up of water and a PG and VG mixed base.

Starting off with a 50/50 ratio of PG to VG is a great way to ‘get a feel’ for vaping. Also a 50/50 vg-pg is the best pg/vg ratio for pods. You can make adjustments to your e-liquid whether you prefer more of a throat hit, or like to billow out those luscious plumes of white vapour.

Most vapers prefer a 70% VG to 30% PG mix base, for a smoother vape without overpowering the throat. You can also opt for 75pg/35vg if you want dense clouds and intense vapours as it is the best pg/vg ratio for mesh coils.
